Biography of my girls....

Born ~ 01/01/00

They were gifted me by my sister. Renee' is a veternarian, and she figured enough time had passed since I lost Caramel, companion of nearly 10 years; she ran across a homeless pair of waifs she sensed would be right up my alley. She delivered them, unannounced, to my workplace. We ended up lunching with the business owner, and came back to find that most of my coworkers had bonded with the girls, 8 weeks old at the time. I struggled at first (maybe someone here would take them?) but was helpless upon meeting the lasses. I took off that afternoon and took them home on Metro Transit, my vehicle of choice. They were unfazed by the trip. Soon thereafter, a friend gave me a Barbiecam as a joke......I was glad to have any way to document Thelma and Louise (the ride had begun we would never forget.....) and having figured out the basics, I bought a Kodak DVC325 webcam and struggled with how to do videos. Over time I got better, though, and the result is a pretty spiffy history of the girls. Check out the pictures and the sample videos!

About the Girls

Thelma

She was born first, thank you. I figure their estranged brother was next, and Lou was last. Thel was always 3% bigger, first up the trees, the fences, the neighbor's roof. Her tail was always able to achieve a heroic part of her whole (see who's alpha). Loved to jump into the air after stuff I saw and stuff I did not see. Thelma has a chunkier head, a bit longer of nose than her sister; she also sports a pair of boots like Nancy Sinatra had in back. Her fur is satin smooth and her only odd mark is the "fang" on her left lower lip of white fur. it goes under her chin to stop for 1/4", then it picks up right inline and runs down to her white underneath. Her eyes are a bright green.

Louise

She was always smaller, followed in the clawmarks of her big sister. This wasn't helped when the landlord thoughtlessly poisonned them, but Weez got the worst of it- herbicide sprayed on the 3 sprigs of morning glory I let grow through the deck towards the front door. They played with the leaves as foils, and got ulcers burned into their tongues. The dehydration wasted Lou; I helped her drink water when it was hard and paid copius attention to her and she pulled through. Still, oddly enough, Weez who had to work twice as hard to get half the attention of her older sister, was first in a surprizing way- She brought home the first mouse, rat, bird. She cleared the property 2 doors down, an abandoned place, of rodents in under 45 days. The survivors simply moved away. This tilted the Alpha in her direction. When they were 10 months old, one morning I awoke to what sounded like the girls tussling in the bathtub, which they like because it is so noisy. I got up (6am) to admonish them to find Lou in the tub with a crow. The one who swore at her, dove her on the lawn and whose very nests were within her mettle. It was nearly half her size. Thelma then came in and saw what was what, and relinquished alpha on the spot. Thats how I best describe it, though it's more like she jumped so fast to get out of there that it kind of fell off as a crown might. Weez is the sweeter of the two, and plays hide the mouse with me; She taught it to me! Her fur is rougher velour, her eyes a sultry green fading out to gold; she has 'almond eyes'. Between them is a diamond of white on the bridge of her nose. She wears spats in back.

A 6 month failed experiment brought a pair of brothers into the house; the older brother (Groucho, another domestic shorthair with a great mustache) was to me very sweet; to the girls he became a stalker. Thel moved out immediately. Weez hung out and tried, but Groucho was to be Alpha or........... finally Lou moved out too. I fed em on the sidewalk, gave em their revolution in the neighbor's yard. I ended up finding the brothers a home and a job with a fellow who had mouse problems. Since the girls moved back in, Thelma has brought in a robin (! late bloomer) and early march 02 I witnessed her executing the rear first spin move Louise invented, and used to baffle her in their bouts. Only where Weez did them playfully, Thelma snapped out an olympic caliber move akin to gung fu. Lou gave the queen back her throne and we both smarted over the suddenness of it all. In a rare moment of threesome, you can see Groucho and little brother Chico with Louise in 9th take 3 ccr. Groucho lays with his back to you, Chico is the brown spot in the lawn who takes off with the mouse I threw to Louise.
ps: with regard to birds and mice, we have instituted a catch and release program. With regards to crows and rats, the cats have license to finish what they start.
